King of Hearts Challenge

Hot FM, We the Kings, and the Metro Health Hospital Foundation have teamed up to raise funds to offer FREE heart screenings to student athletes in our community. The heart screenings are aimed at detecting underlying heart conditions in student athletes; screenings that are not part of a routine sports physical and are not easily obtained because of cost by most families. It is our hope these efforts will help prevent the unthinkable reality of Sudden Cardiac Death which affects thousands of student athletes and their families each year.

Details:

Kickoff date February 29th , 2012

End Date April 20th , 2012

Any of the high schools in the Grand Rapids and surrounding areas are welcome to participate in the challenge. Go to metrohealth.net to register on or after February 29th.

Schools are able to raise money by selling challenge t-shirts for $10 per shirt. Also, each individual school is welcome to be creative and come up with their own way to fundraise.

Each $100 per school raised will give the school one entry into a drawing for the first, second and third place winners. Schools big or small have equal chance of winning the competition! The more money that your school raises the more chances you have to WIN!

The first place school will win a concert at their school from Travis and Hunter from WE THE KINGS and free heart screenings for 80 student athletes.

The second and third place schools will be provided with an AED as well as free specialized training classes from the Wes Leonard Heart Team.
